Writing Wednesday 12.06.23

In an effort to get into a writing rhythm again, I want to start sharing weekly updates/questions/conversation starters for all my creative friends.

I’ll start with this: can you *just tell* when it’s been a while since you’ve last written?

I certainly can. Sometimes it’s unavoidable — you’re busy with work/school, you get sick, the ordinary upkeep required for life piles up, etc. — but I still miss it in many ways:

Like when I’ve gone on a long trip and haven’t slept in my own bed for a while.

Like when I’ve been sitting hunched over, then I stand up and realize my back is in knots.

Like when I’ve gotten in bed for the night and realize I need to drink a big glass of water.

There are myriad ways of missing writing and only one remedy: to write. I’m still paused on my current manuscript as my beta readers are reading it. I’m working on my synopsis and scheming up a query letter, but I’m missing the purely creative part of writing lately. So the only solution, for me, is to start something new.

For now, writing this post filled that void just fine.
