Writing Log | Week 9
Day 1 — Sunday
Not setting a goal since my focus this week is on family :)
Sneaking in a few minutes with my manuscript before bed. I’m reviewing Chapter 11, which is still way too long. I also went ahead and started removing some scenes from Chapter 8 that need to go.
My total word count is now at 92,143 — I’m already down by about 2K since I started these edits. That 90K mark is getting closer and closer.
Day 2 — Monday
I’m working lateeeeee (if you’ve been here you know this is the drill — working a full-time job from home and being a mom and writing a novel keeps one busy).
Anyway I’m exhausted, so just editing a bit more of whatever chapter I feel like before calling it a night.
Great progress though — I’m finally under 92K works!
Day 3 — Tuesday
This week has felt SO LONG already. Another late night working, but I couldn’t resist doing a bit more light editing before bed. I’ll continue meandering around this section to trim word count where I can. All the new scenes will need to wait until I have time in the morning to write with more energy.
Day 4 — Wednesday
No writing during a killer work day.
Day 5 — Thursday
Technically a day off of work but I had some catching up to do. Finally writing again before bed, though, and it feels good!
In addition to trimming word count here and there, I added notes about cross-chapter adjustments that need to happen in this section. Tedious, but neccessary.
Day 6 — Friday
Watched Harry Potter before doing a bit more editing.
Still hopping around the second half of Act I. I decided to work on the easiest of those chapters tonight because I just started reading something new and I want to sneak in a few more chapters before bed.
Wrote more than I thought I would and wrapped up Chapter 10. Just four chapters left to tackle in this section!
Day 7 — Saturday
Writing outside during nap time and it’s glorious! I was listening to Reputation on my run this morning so the tail end of the album is my writing music for the moment. (When are we getting Taylor’s version?!?!)
Also this book is so Reputation-coded for the guy POV in this book, it’s unreal. I need to make POV playlists in my downtime.
Wrapped up some solid work on Chapter 7 — overall, I’m happy with my progress this week!
