Writing Log | Week 5
Day 1 — Sunday
Sitting down to write during my 7-month-old’s morning nap. Goal for this session = finish chapter 3! Totally dependent on how long this nap lasts, though.
I’m listening to my “Moody Writing Playlist” as I write and it’s setting the mood to perfection.
Maybe it was the music, but the words flowed today. Chapter 3 is complete! It’s now just over 2,500 words. I’d like to trim it down to the 2K range, but I’m going to call it a day. This chapter had me stuck for a long time. It feels like victory to have it done.
Day 2 — Monday
Just reviewing a bit of what I wrote yesterday! There’s definitely an ebb and flow to my writing time these days — lots of time yesterday, little time today.
Day 3 — Tuesday
Morning writing again! My head is still in Chapter 3 because I know I need to cut down there for the sake of flow, but I think I need a bit of space after working on it for a couple of weeks. So, onto Chapter 4!
Chapter 4’s currently around 2300 words. I’d like to cut as much as possible to keep the pace snappy.
Day 4 — Wednesday
Didn’t write today! Baby is teething so I didn’t have a great night of sleep, followed by a busy busy work day.
Day 5 — Thursday
Raring to write after skipping yesterday!
(Well, I wrote that and then didn’t end up working on my book. C’est la vie.)
Day 6 — Friday
Another busy day at work, but I was determined to write before going to bed!
I jumped ahead to the end of Chapter 4. Even when I try to write/edit chronologically, I can’t resist doing things at least a little bit out of order.
Day 7 — Saturday
For once this week, I’m up early. Baby is sleeping, birds are chirping, and coffee is piping hot. Now: to write.
Last night I went over about 300 words of Chapter 4. It’s currently about 2300 words and I want it to get to under 2K. There are some things I need to rework after feedback from my critique partner, so that’s what I’ll be focusing on today.
