5 Books That Are a Part of My Soul
Keeping it simple today… here are five of my all-time favorite books that each have a core memory attached to them:
— MACBETH was the book that made me love Shakespeare and made me want to study literature in college. I can still remember the big paper I wrote on this play as a freshman in high school.
— EMPIRE OF STORMS truly made me feel like space and time didn’t exist while I was reading it. I was traveling in France in 2019 with one of my best friends and spent an entire five hour train ride absolutely glued to the page. I quickly got my friend on board with the series too!
— THE REMAINS OF THE DAY was the book I wrote my English thesis on in college, but more than that, this book made me realize that I wanted to choose a future for myself that I would not come to regret. It is one of those books that I read at the precisely perfect moment, and I’m forever grateful.
— THE FOUR LOVES is full of simple but profound truths of human connection and relationships in their many nuanced forms. A must read that I return to often, but one that I particularly cherish because I read it during a time of shifting relationships in my life.
— HARRY POTTER AND THE PRISONER OF AZKABAN takes me all the way back to fifth grade. This wasn’t the book that made me love reading but it was definitely the book that turned me into an unabashed fangirl, ha. I vividly remember reading the chapters at the Shrieking Shack while at my little brother’s soccer game because I HAD TO KNOW what was going to happen.
What’s a book that you’ve read over and over again?
