2025 Writing Log | Week 1

Last year was one of my busiest yet with my first full calendar year of motherhood, a full professional workload, and quite a bit of family travel. My weekly writing logs tapered off as busy season ramped up for me, but the new year promises a fresh start.

My goals for the year are simple: finish this final edit of my manuscript and prep for querying.

The last time I wrote, I wrapped up Act II with some key chapters that included this passage I’m fond of:

“I know what he is,” whispered [Name] at my surprise. His dark eyes searched my face. “What did he do to make you follow him in the shadows?”

Over the next several weeks, I’ll be working on Acts III, IV, and V. To keep my mindset relatively realistic, I’ll aim to tackle Act III in January, Act IV in February, and Act V in March.

This is a dual POV narrative, and the MMC’s POV needs a bit more work than the FMC’s. I’ve loosely mapped out the needed adjustments. They’ll require work, and this writing log will keep me accountable.

I consider these logs to be something like journal entries, entirely for my own benefit (it helps me to write out my thoughts as I work through the editing process). But if anyone is reading this, I hope you enjoy!

Happy writing,

Carolyn
